Kingdom’s Andy Howe receives Freedom of the City of London

Many congratulations to Kingdom’s Andy Howe, who on Wednesday 7th February 2018 was elected as a Freeman of the City of London, and is, as far as we are aware, the first Kingdom colleague to be awarded the Freedom of the City of London.

Andy (pictured centre in the top image and on the right in the second image) has been with Kingdom since September 2015 when he joined the company as a security consultant, having served as a police officer in the Metropolitan Police Service for 32 years. He retired with the rank of Superintendent. Andy is now our Head of Risk & Mitigation.

The ceremony in which Andy received the Freedom of the City of London is one of the oldest surviving ceremonies still in existence today. It is believed that it was first carried out as long ago as 1237. Although many of the historical practical reasons for obtaining the Freedom of the City have long since disappeared, it remains a unique part of London’s history to which many people who lived or worked in the City have been proud to be admitted.
